Written and orchestrated by artist and actor Tracey Guptill, When I Get There follows the story of a young woman as she grapples with a world teeming with environmental and social crises. What begins as a search for her birth father becomes a quest for identity, belonging and agency in a world where what’s right isn’t always clear.
The multi-disciplinary, collaboratively created play has brought together community members and students alike who have long been engaged with the themes of the play as participants of coLABoratory. With Guptill herself playing the lead role of Cara, When I Get There also features local actors Lindsay Rodgers, Alex Richards, Matthew Davis and Alex Oliver, with dance performances choreographed by Jane Kirby and musical accompaniment by David Parker of Firemoss.
Modern Fuel hosts When I Get There April 24-26 at 7:30pm, with a matinee performance April 27 at 2pm. Tickets are $10 available at the door.
The April 27 performance will be followed by a special talkback event at 3:30pm. Admission is free for the talkbalk event with the purchase of any ticket during the show’s run, or by donation at the door.
